As New Year's resolutions go Raffaele and Gail Tevola could have picked one slightly less demanding - to buy a decrepit pub somewhere in the Waveney Valley back to Gail's childhood roots far from the London hurly burly, as a home to an Italian restaurant founded on Raffaele's Neopolitan heritage.
The Bird in Hand - an 18th century former coaching inn came up, complete with ripped leatherette benches and filthy kitchen. The Area Manager of Pubmaster handed over the keys with a wry smile and a mention that he would testify to the lack of business in the area should we ever wish to convert to residential, we are happy to say, we are still here!
