Great food starts with fantastic ingredients!
Since the inception of the restaurant in 1999 we have been insistent on using top quality produce with the finest prosciutto, bresaola, Italian cheeses, biscotti etc hand picked from Italy and our fresh ingredients sourced from local suppliers.
When in season we buy game from the Kirby Cane estate, pork and beef is Suffolk or Norfolk reared and all our meat and poultry is freedom farmed and English. We use only free range eggs, a local dairy supplies fresh cream & milk for our icecream and we are endeavouring to increasingly source our fish sustainably. In recent years we have been developing a small allotment from which we are able to produce fresh herbs, salad, some seasonal vegetables and an abundance of raspberries, gooseberries, blackcurrants and apricots.
Rafe bakes his own fresh bread, sometimes with sundried tomatoes, sometimes with garlic & fresh herbs, always delicious, makes ravioli filled with goat’s cheese & herbs and gnocchi based on his mother’s recipe. Gail is pudding queen – baking rich wheat free chocolate & almond torta caprese, traditional tiramisu and icecreams & panna cottas flavoured by seasonal soft fruits from the garden.
As all dishes are cooked to order and all made by us, we can cater for most dietary requirements, including coeliac, dairy-free and other specific intolerances.
